| #79 | Beautiful songs and pictures - I'm alive, Stand by me, ..... and just what I needed to hear! Chemo again tomorrow, struggling with the medical system to get my port scheduled (running out of good veins), nausea which may be from the liver mets, wishing to get my fighting spirit back ..... I needed a picker-upper!
Vicki: I'll respond later .... Lucette: I am sending a prayer to Aussie land for the best results ever!

Thanks Gerlinde, I hope that you are taking some good meds for the nausea for the first few days after chemo (Zofran worked very well for me). If you are still nauseous after that, I found that a little piece of fresh ginger in some herbal tea worked wonders for me. __________________ Live your Bliss

Vicki: Thank you for your sweet, uplifting words .... I always shed a few tears when I am on the receiving end of love - there must be a reason for it! I followed your advice (sing), did some yoga, and feel better again. This is cool that you have a friend with my name! It is a German name, and not very common there either.
Betty: Thanks for reminding me of the ginger! I'll try that to see if the nausea is still chemo related (this was my week off) or an indication of progression in the liver. Yes, I get Zofran with the chemo (this will be my third round), but I prefer not to take too many because it gives me constipation (as does the decadron).
More after my chemo tomorrow. Pray that the nurses can find one more vein to use. After four phone calls (and after I discussed this with my onc on Monday, who had put in the request on April 16), I still did not get my port scheduled .....aaargh!

Gerlinde, please take the Zofran. You won't get very constipated if you make sure that you get enough fiber, and good old Milk of Magnesia works wonders too. I know that it is difficult to eat anything after chemo, but I found that I could still nibble on dried fruits. There is a wonderful cookbook called, "One Bite at a Time" and there are easy to prepare recipes that are appetizing enough to actually want to eat after chemotherapy. The foods contain lots of fiber and essential nutrients. If you decide to purchase the book, buy the original one, not the revised edition. Don't forget to bring your meditation CDs to chemo too! Hope it goes very easily for you tomorrow. Oh yes, I just remembered...If it is difficult for the nurse to find a vein, suggest that she apply heat to the area where the needle has to go in. My chemo nurse used a small balloon filled with hot water. Please let us know how you are doing. __________________ Live your Bliss

I found Pear Juice helpful for the anti-nausea drug induced constipation, but like most drinks at that time I had to drink it through a straw to get it down.
Gerline, best wishes for chemo. Drinking a lot of water before chemo (and I know it's difficult to do so) can help the veins a bit, as well as the warming. Thanks folks for your thoughts for my tumor markers. They have gone up again so we will wait and see what they are next time. These things happen and we are not concerned.

I woke up with this song in my head, and I thought of you, Ruth before even having read Carol's post. Now I know why the song came to me. I will re-post it, as I know that you love it, Ruth. I Believe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODtExxkW0ws __________________ Live your Bliss

| #88 | Hi Betty, Thank you for "I Believe." It is one of my favorite songs from Carousel. My father was a professional singer in a male quartet called the Lyric Singers for many years and did local musical theater and minstrels. He was the male lead in Carousel and sang "I Believe." He had a big tenor voice like Robert Goulet. I can hear him singing right along with Elvis who also was my favorite when I was a child/teenager along with the Beetles.
You made my day. Thank you so much!
