Thanx so much Lucette,
You're so right, it comes down to one word: CARING !!!
The support staff in every department except nursing and
rehab are wonderfully kind, caring and competent people, but
clearly the 2 most important departments that people are there for
are the nursing and rehab depts. When I find a nurse that is caring
and competent, I assure you they are endlessly thanked and
supported and given gifts. Sadly there are very few and the
worst in my opinion are the DON, Asst. DON and DSD. This
makes the rest of the nursing staff victims just like the
residents, except they can leave and the residents can't.
Thanx so much for your positive wishes and prayers for
change in the New Year. I firmly believe that "awareness is curative"
and that '09 will see great changes as more and more people
become aware of the problem and committed to stopping it.
CONGRAT'S ON YOUR MIRACLE IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!! and all the
best in the coming year for you and Johnand have a Merry HoHoHo!!!

Dear Thrivers,
This is just a 2 second drive-by drop-in , since I still
don't have a working "pooter" to thank you yet again
for your powerful prayers and support. The support is
snowballing and we now have had two TV interviews,
three meetings including religious leaders, politicians,
UHW members etc and more and more people are
getting on board to stop this nursing home travesty.
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH for all your thoughts and
prayers!!!!!!!!!! More later !!!

Thanx so much Beth,
Am here at Kinko's for another "drive-by" with a little
tid-bit. Some different thrivers have asked for more information
regarding this nursing home travesty. We are now taking this
nationally and internationally, with a copy and pass it on
philosophy. The DVD from the TV interview will be ready tomorrow
and if someone wants a copy I will be happy to send a free copy
to that one first person, if they will copy one and pass it on, if
they find it helpful.
Clearly I would love to send a copy to anyone who might
be dealing with this similar situation, but that's not possible, so
we'll do a "grass roots movement" one blade at a time.

How did you know that that is right where this
"hot off the press" DVD is headed ??? I just picked
up some dupes and my engineer said he can also
get it on the internet, so when that happens I can
let you know......but be assured the "governator"
and president are going to get one.

Dear Thrivers,
HAPPY ST. Patty's Day !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems like forever
since I've visited, but wanted to wish you all the best
and also give you a head's up about something that has
just been discovered in my Mom's nursing home.
Just in case any of you ever have a loved one in a
nursing home....this was something that was never on
my radar in spite of all the substandard care that I have
been working on changing.
My Mom started having abnormal vocalizations and
some other reactions that God Bless her neurologist knew
were not neurological, they were behavioral. The question was
what was causing the behavior ??? And she's on strictly over
the counter drugs like vitamins, aspirin etc. Turns out a
cherished CNA was whispering satanic statements in her ear
and telling her she was from hell, the devil, and that she needed
to go back there etc.
Virtually no expert I have spoken with, had heard of this form
of abuse except one, where they successfully shut the place down
because they were abusing the residents this way as well and
making satanic and crazy making statements to scare the residents
and make them insecure, frightened and even more helpless.
This is like being mentally, emotionally and spiritually raped on a daily
basis and is completely inconceivable to me and yet it happens.
There will be another DVD made to discuss this very form of abuse
to help educate the public, but until that time I just wanted to give
you a head's up in case you were as unfamiliar with this as I was.
Thank you all for the continued prayers and support, they are
what has made this journey possible

Wow. I've been concerned about my grandmother for several weeks, and this sure gives me something to think about and look into. How did you discover what was going on, and what can be done about it? Does it matter what state the nursing home is in? She's in Virginia, and I'm totally new and uninformed about how it all works. Thanks. |

As usual you are the Angel of kindness and compassion, Thank you sooooo

Doobie, great question. My recommendation is to never assume your loved
one is getting great care, cause that's exactly how they can be abused. I've
been on this 24/7 and still did not know this was going on cause it was some-
thing I couldn't even dream of or imagine and yet it has been and people
can't know what they don't know.
The key thing is watch their behavior and listen to everything they say
and how they say it. In this situation one lady told me this CNA was harassing her, but I had know idea how......until I witnessed what was
happening with my Mom and she talked extensively with me about it. I have
no idea how many people have had this done to them, because as I said
it was NEVER on my radar.
So if your grandmother seems extra nervous or scared or exhausted
or has any vocal or behavioral changes, find out why. Is it mental, emotional,
spiritual, physical, pharmaceutical, environmental, behavioral vs neurological,
the possibilities are endless....but don't hesitate to check in with your
grandma and allow her to talk about any concerns, so that together
you can work through any complications, and keep a mental note to see
if there's anything she wants to talk about. FYI...this CNA was a cherished
CNA and friend to my Mom so she stayed below the radar for a long term.
Having her have the peace of mind of knowing she 's always protected by her Guardian Angel....will give her the mental and emotional strength
to help her survive and thrive in a long term care facility, along with
constant vigilance from you and other family members. As I said don't
ever "Assume" she's getting great care and be a very involved advocate on her behalf and never let the facility know your visiting schedule, so that
a visit is a surprise and they can't stage behavior for you while you are there.
In my opinion after what I have learned over the last 25 months, there
is no more defenseless group of individuals on the planet, than the elders,
and that's coming from a veterinarian who can testify to the fact that
our animals are getting far better care than our "Greatest Generation" if
their in a nursing home, especially a "Windsor" nursing home in my opinion.
They now own 29 nursing homes in California and they were just given
a one-star rating in over half of their facilities by Medicare(one is the
worst and five is the best)
All your thoughts and prayers directed toward this situation are
beyond appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Dear Thrivers,
Your support and prayers have done it again!!!!!!!!!!!!! An RN that works
at my Mom's nursing home also works at the Community Hospital,
and while my Mom was hospitalized 2/10-2/12/09, she violated the
confidentiality of my Mom's records and was fired at the hospital
where she had been a long term employee.
This nurse would have had no other reason to breach my Mom's
records had it not been for the fact that she was feeding info back to my Mom's facility. We all agree this was incredible that she did this and
proceeded to lose her job and pension, to commit an illegal act.
Showing the level of corruption that exist's at this nursing home is
essential and so this "little miracle", I believe will help tremendously.
This nursing facility and chain feel they are accountable to no one,
and your prayers are helping to really shine the brightest light and
help all of the defenseless patients that are being so profoundly violated.
Lucette, thank you soooooo much for your card and info about
Daniel's shield, they are both beyond appreciated, and I'm sorry I
haven't gotten a response to you sooner.
One question: Violating HIPPA and breaching records I understand
carries a heavy penalty. I am hearing two different answers. I heard
it's a 10,000 fine and then someone said it can be a 25,000 fine and
three years in jail. Does anyone have the full scoop on this ???
They have her electronic signature on the file, so they have undeniable
proof.
Now stopping the predators and making them accountable is next
on the agenda....your prayers are making it happen...thank you beyond
words and many heartfelt thanx on behalf of the defenseless residents
and facilities in this chain. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!

Your love and support is so appreciated and
playing such an integral part in this "Miracle in Progress".
I truly know what hell on earth looks and feels like now,
and am determined to make it Heaven on Earth, for all
concerned.
As I've said, I haven't witnessed anything like this
in my life except having a grammer school classmate
die at Guyana, which was madness incarnate and the
the fictional film "The Firm" with Tom Cruise. You can
switch the name to " The Facility" and you'll have the
tone of the situation.
Many prayers are needed to get this situation re-
solved and get my Mom to a miraculously wonderful place
which is in the mix now, so again THAAAANK YOUUUUU
for all the prayer power and please keep it coming!!!!!!!!!!
