Dear Miracle Thrivers,

Haven't gotten a compooooter yet, so am
doing a drive-by poooter stop, but wanted to give
you a little miraculous synchronicity.
As you know I have been working on a "Miracle in
progress" to stop the substandard care in a local
nursing home where my Mom is. Without violating
her privacy as to why she can't be moved elsewhere,
suffice it to say that I have been advised that the way
to keep her safest is to "shine the brightest light on
her" since I can't get her out.....which is where all
your prayers come in, to help keep her safe and protected.
Dec. 10th, I asked for tons of prayers and called the Carmelites
for a miracle for a meeting with UHW, Clergy and Politicians
coming to address the substandard care at this chain of nursing
homes.
I was asked to speak and five minutes after I spoke, I was
asked to do an interview with a local TV station. Here's the
great synchronistic part:

1.) In July and August I was anonymously speaking with TV and
newspaper to try and stop what is happening. I did it anonymously
out of fear about retaliation and retribution against my Mom.
I spoke to a TV reporter named Claudia who never answers the
phone and she was incredibly kind and I just gave her my middle
name, nothing else. We hadn't communicated since then until
Dec. 11th when I was told that a TV reporter asked to interview
one person. He said they normally ask for 2 or 3 people to interview
but she just asked him to select one..........goosebump city

2.) He introduces me to the reporter whom I had never seen and
says this is Claudia. She looked at me and I looked at her and we
both just simultaneously cracked up because she said I think I may
know her. Out of over a hundred people there, what are the odds
he would pick me for the interview ??.........goosebump city

3.) We do the interview and she says she wants to do a more
extensive interview, which will clearly shine even a brighter light
and she said she can't believe she came to do the report cause she was
in another city over an hour away and thought someone else was
gonna do the report.......................goosebump city

4.) Lastly but most importantly, she said" now I know why I was
carrying these earrings with me today but hadn't put them on.".....
and she pulls an earring out of her pocket which is an ANGEL!!!!!!!!!
MAJOR GOOSEBUMPs!!!!!!!
What are the odds we would ever meet 4 mos later and that she would
recognize that she was in the middle of helping to make a miracle happen??
So, you have to understand how powerful your prayers are to me, and
there is now a growing surge of support that's coming from healthcare
workers, clergy, politicians and media to stop what is a travesty
in my opinion, here at home as well as around the world. Your prayers
do not futz around.

And Mary Sunshine, I have to tell you that the profound wisdom your
nursing home consultant friend has given me has been INVALUABLE!!!!
Everything he told me has come to pass, including them trying to
discredit me by the Director of Nursing calling me a paranoid and a
harrasser and last week another resident's family member came up
to me and said the facility had told her to stay away from me cause
I was crazy, wacko and a schizophrenic..............so your friend pre-
paring me with what their capable of, has been an incredible gift and
has explained so beautifully how this has been allowed to go on.
PLEASE GIVE HIM A GARGANTUAN HUG FROM ME

So to all the THRIVING ANGELS here, many THANK YOU"S and the
interviews are continuing to come and we need to keep the momentum
going and get the awareness out there.
                                     Big Love & Hugs, Jody

Jody, I can tell you that I know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to goosebumps!  I call them vibes.  To me they are a confirmation from spirit that things are right or on track.  Sadly I must tell you that Mary has decided that she will no longer post on the forum, so if you wish to contact her, you will have to go to her web site, or to her blog.

I believe that prayers do help, but it is your unwavering determination to pursue your cause and not to give up no matter what people say to undermine your efforts that is really giving you success.

You can be very proud of yourself and all of your hard work.

Thanx so much Betty,

I agree with you about Spirit and to me goosebumps
and synchronistic moments are the equivalent of Angel
kisses...............so I assure you, there's plenty of those
going on.
As you know I have been pooooterless for quite a while
and I had no idea Mary Sunshine wasn't here anymore, I'm so
sorry to hear that, but I'll contact her directly. Thanx for the
head's up and all the wonderful support!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. St B,

You had said a while back to get politicians
involved and one of the many miracles on that special
night was that clergy from eight different faiths and
politicians came together and were appalled to hear
what this nursing home chain is doing. That have vowed
to make them accountable or they will "shut them
down" without disturbing the residents of course.
They were a SUPER group of people and the miracle
is off and running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanx to all for sharing your experiences and
wisdom. HIP HIP HUURRRRRAAAAAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jody,
How are the politicians going to "shut them down" without disturbing the residents?  If they are shut down, they there will be no one to care for the residents and they will have to be moved!

Are there any newspaper articles that we can read and share with others who have the same problems with nursing homes?

Thanks.

I wanted to share an information source on the internet that evaluates all hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, dentists and other health care workers.  It is called Healthgrades.com.  There is a nominal charge for a report, but it is money well spent and you can avoid all of the problems that Jody is having by investigating a nursing home before you place a family member there for care.  I looked up nursing homes within a 100 mile radius of Carmel, CA and all of the nursing homes were listed.

Ruth, I used Healthgrades.com to find out about my surgeon's history.  He had a clean slate, and it made me feel a lot more comfortable.  There are never any guarantees about anything, but it is a valuable resource.

Ruth,

Let me assure you, the last thing anyone is going to do is violate
these patients anymore than they have already been violated. That
means the politicians are not going to make the residents pay for the
actions of the six culpable people that are in the management levels of the facility.
Fortunately this is an extraordinarily easy one to diagnose as to who
is responsible for this travesty.............you just have to cut through the
"Showtime" which I assure you is putting it very politely.
Ruth, I am a very fact-based person and this facility was investigated
before my Mom entered it. It had the highest score in the county(by the state Dept of Public Health) of
all the nursing homes according to the resources I researched with and
I assure you a high rating of anything, be it through state survey or
Healthgrades.com doesn't have to be a true refelction at all. You have
to witness on site what is truly going on in that facility because sadly
so many residents are just "wherehoused" and there are so few visitors
they can get away with no accountability.
In this case ,there are 78 residents and only 4 or 5 have any visitors.
Three months after my Mom entered it was bought by a chain that is
buying up nursing homes all over California.
I don't want to violate my Mom's privacy or I would tell you why
she has to be there and right now things are extremely hot after last
week's clergy/politician/UHW meeting, so I am not prepared to share
any articles just yet, but soon. The main focus is the health, safety and
well-being of my Mom and the rest of the residents.............so all your
prayers are greatly needed and appreciated. More later.

                                        Love & hugs, jody

Jody,
You know I wish you well.  The sad fact is that you are just touching the tip of the iceberg.  I would bet that most nursing homes are similar to the facility that your Mom is living in.  It is the reason that 99% of RN's would not consider working in them.

Have you considered moving your Mom to another facility or are they all just as bad?  I hope you find peace and your Mom gets the care that she deserves.

I think that Jody has implied that her mother must stay in this facility, but that she can't explain why (for now.)  Is that right, Jody?

You know there is a reason for everything, and I believe that even though things are pretty bad over there, this is something that you must do, Jody, and when all is said and done, major changes will occur, and the sacrifices that you and your mother have made will help to change the lives of others for the better, for many years to come.  God bless you Jody.

Betty,

Thank you for your kindness and sensitivity and
your perceptions are absolutely spot on.....I can't violate
my Mom's privacy as to why she can't be moved.

Ruth,

The last 21 mos of advocating for my Mom during
her recovery ,have been a phenomenal education and
has really shown me how our elders really are the most
vulnerable group of individuals on the planet and for
36 yrs I thought it was animals,....... it's not.
Your right, my introduction to advocating
in a long-term care facility and what I have discovered
from it,.. ...is tip of the iceberg, which is why it is imperative
for anyone who cares to jump on board and do something
about it , to go for it. Just like walking , it starts with baby steps and
a negative or defeatist attitude is a liability I can't afford,
and if I want to get it done I've gotta see it done. As I've
said before, we don't do this to animals and it is the epitome
of an opportunity to think globally and act locally.
Hope your feeling better and that you got to go to your
interview. Fingers are crossed for you.

    Lucette,

Thanks so much for your kindness and support. Your story of
what is happening in your nursing home in Australia (which I use
without violating your privacy) has inspired many. Thank you for
caring and sharing. It is your care  & commitment to seeing this resolved
globally, that will make this happen. Many thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once again, thank you all for your prayers and suipport, we're
all making this happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                 Love & hugs, jody

Thanks Jody.  The situation in my mother's nursing home has changed recently because of a couple of new staff and their love and care for the residents.  I wish you blessings of success and it is so good to hear how you are going.  Take care.  Love and Peace, Lucette.

Lucette,

I can't tell you what a great gift you have given
me in telling me about your Mom's nursing home, cause
that's exactly what it would take to rectify the appalling
situation at my Mom's place.
In my opinion it's definitively the 5 to 6 peeps at the top
in management that are deleteriously affecting the quality
of life for 130 to 150 people.
May your ripple effect of change over there be felt over
here and congrats on what has to be a great gift of peace
of mind for you, just in time for Christmas. Thank you sooooo
much for letting me know, I'll take all the wisdom and inspiration
I can get......and the Angels are getting the word out, cause
I can't even count how many people I have run into, that saw
the TV interview that I did on this travesty, and they are all caring
heart-based people that will spread the word.
I'm sending GARGANTUAN wishes for you all to have a truly
miraculous and wonder-filled Christmas and New Year's and
Merry HoHo to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jody, thanks!  Merry Christmas to you and your Mum too and blessings for a big change in her nursing home.

We give all sorts of encouragement to these caring nurses and help in whatever ways we can.  We listen to them, hug them, give them little gifts and now we are going to mind the doggie of one of the nurses.  They hate the system too, but the care of the patients is so much better because of the caring nurses who have jobs there now.  And they need support from us because it is just so hard for them to work in the system and its limitations because of money making attitudes etc.

Do take care of yourself, Jody and may the New Year bring lots of surprises and rewards for all your care and hard work.  Love and Peace, Lucette.
