SONGS TO ENJOY (URL)

There are several more songs from this group on you tube, if you are in the mood to keep breathing

These very talented singers are all Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) in Minnesota and they can really sing. They are also funny.

Bernie introduced me to the "Laryngospasms last year.  He knew that I would love them as they are"gas passers."  I administered anesthesia for 13-years.

One of my friends heard the Laryngospasms sing at an Anesthesia Meeting in Boston.  He said the guys are hilarious and tell a lot of hospital jokes related to surgery.  My favorite song is "Waking Up is Hard to Do."

Thanks for posting the link.

YES, that would be so calming to have some music and humor at that time.
Keep writing and suggesting Bernie. One of these days the Doctors and staff and all hospitals will 'get' this.

Looked at USA today website but couldn't find article.  It seems to me, and others I talk to agree, that the bad rapport between doctors and patients is just a micro of what is happening on the macro.  People seem to be too busy to pay attention to others, servers in shops don't give full attention to customers, people are rude with each, quick to judge, get offended so easily etc., lack genuineness, forgiveness, understanding.  I could go on and on but of course we just need to look for the good in people too.  I think the busy pressure of this world that people choose to live, and the expectations people have of others because of lack of peace in themselves, causes a lot of problems.

And about the music - you couldn't please everyone because some people do like quiet or may not like this type of music anyway.  But for those who do like it then it could be a good thing and block out the "urgent clatter" that usually surrounds the holding area with hardly any spaces between beds.  I often wonder why people can't talk quietly in these holding areas.  We are not all deaf, nor do we need everyone to know our business.

Now I'll hold my breath and see if this will post.  Bernie said god is testing Margaret with the problems on this forum.  I emailed Bernie and said I am over being tested!

As a follow up to previous post I have to say in doctors' defence that all the doctors that my wife, myself or family have seen have been great.  No problems with rapport there.  It's always been good.  Peace, J.

John, You are so right about people being in a hurry, or not entirely engaged in what they're supposed to be doing. I got 'into' it with Krista, when she started talking on her cell phone in a restaurant (so rude for anyone to do this) and we were out to lunch with Ellan and her girls. Krista did her wonderful, hungover, let's scream at Mom and use four letter words.

Thankful for the doctors you've encountered that have been nice.

I think I've finally found a good Primary Care doc. He spent at least an hour with me, the first time I was there. I wrote about this several years ago, so it's taken me years.

Be Well, have a Meaningful Holiday,

Margaret
